"Katrina! Kat over here!" She turned towards the voice and finally saw him.
"Wade!" She yelled. There he stood, a smile on his face and his arms held open for her.
"How are you Kat!?" He asked as she stepped into his warm embrace.
"I am great! And how are you Mr. Choreographer to the stars!" She asked as she pulled back and looked into his eyes. She could always get lost in the blue pools of his.
They had known each other since their early childhoods, in Australia. He had left when he was at the young age of five and moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue dancing. Kat moved from her home in Australia when she was 12, after her parents died in a fatal car accident, to live with her grand parents in New York. The two had always stayed close calling each other and writing back and forth. They were best friends. She could tell all her problems to him and he the same with her. With the time passing, they realized that their feelings became much stronger than just friends' but neither would do anything about it. Finally, one day Wade admitted to Kat his feelings for her. They started a long distance relationship and whenever he was in New York, or she was in LA, they would be by each other's side the entire time. Stress eventually put a strain on the relationship and the two decided to break it off a year later, still keeping the closeness and friendship that they had before. And now, here they were, both at the young vital age of 17. Kat flew herself out to LA and would be staying with Wade, his mother and sister while she attended the University of Los Angeles, while Wade taught a dance class at his studio and did many other side projects.
"Oh Im good, much better now that you're here with me!" She smiled and kissed his cheek. He still had feelings for her, but couldn't let her or anyone else for that matter know about them. every time she touched him, wether it be a simple peck on the cheek or just holding his hand he felt waves of electricity flow through him. "and how was your flight here?" he asked as he grabbed her small carry on bag.
"It was good. Kinda boring, but what flight ISN'T!" he laughed and with his free hand, wrapped his arm around her slender waist. "So what's on the agenda for today? Its really beautiful here."
"Well, we are gonna get you back to the house and settled in, then if you want, you can come to the dance studio and chill while I run through some choreography with the guys." They stopped at the edge of the turn belt, waiting for her luggage to come out.
"What guys"
"Oh I didn't tell you? *NSYNC, you know Justin, Chris, Joey, Lance and JC." a look of realization passed over her features. "Oh! Okay, I've never met them before, I know you worked with them before and they were in New York with you, but I haven't got the chance to meet them yet. All the girls in my school went ga ga over them!" Wade had been choreographing dance moves for the guys, and many others, for a while. It was their 2000 No Strings Attached Tour that would really give him his time to shine.
"Ready to go?" She nodded her head and grabbed some of her luggage.
"Lets go!" With that said, they headed out to his car
The ride to the house was filled with talk from old friends, family, work and school. it wasn't a long drive to the house. They pulled up the driveway and got out.
"Mom, we're home!" Wade yelled as they entered the house. Kat just stood there silent, with a faint smile across her features..
"Wade, I'm in the kitchen." He turned to Kat and smiled as they walked through the hallway and into the kitchen where his mom Joe stood.
"Mom, I'm sure you remember Katrina right?" She turned and pulled Kat into a graceful hug.
"Boy of course I remember her! No need to ask that! It's so good to see you Katty! Look at you, your so beautiful, and you've grown up so much!" She had always thought of Kat as a second daughter, and she truly felt for the girl, all the troubles and obstacles that were thrown in her way all in such a short span of her life, but most crucial.
"Thank you Mrs. Robson. It's great to see you too, and Wade, everyone for that matter!" They all sat there and talked for another 5 minutes.
"Well lets get you settled into your room. I'll show you where it is. I'm sure you'll love it!" Wade said as he led Kat up the stairs to her room.
"So Way J, tell me are there any god surfing spots around here?" He turned and looked at her strangely.
"Your still into that? I thought after you moved from Australia, you would've stopped." He set her bags down on the floor and opened up the bedroom door. It was on the second floor of the house and the room, though not huge, had a balcony that overlooked the city and in the distance was the Pacific Ocean. It was breathtaking to her. She set her bags down on her bed and waled onto the balcony. The view was one that she could defiantly get used to.
"Yeah, of course I am are you kidding!? I mean even though New York doesn't have any beaches, I would go down to Florida with my grandparents and surf there. Those beaches, compared to Aussie beaches suck. But as soon as I get my surf board up here, I'm gonna hit the waves. I had it shipped up here because they wouldn't let me bring it on the plane." He smiled and walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"So what do you think so far?" She smiled and turned, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"I love it here. Thank you so much for letting me stay here with you. Its just that granny and granddaddy and I wouldn't have enough to pay if I dormed at the university, and there was no way that I could pass up going to UCLA. I'll make it up to you some way." He pulled her into a tight hug.
"Don't worry about it Kat. You don't have to repay me at all. You r like family to us and we will do anything for you." she pulled back and smiled, gazing into his eyes. She sensed it coming and before they knew it, their heads were inching closer and closer. Then their lips were just centimeters apart, Wade pulled back. He cursed himself silently for pulling away. This close to regaining it you idiot why'd you pull back! He thought to himself, as she looked him in the eyes.
"Sorry about that, uh. .so where were we?! Oh yeah surfing!" She said not noticing the gleam of disappointment in his eyes.
"Surfing, um, tell you what, why don't we get you all unpacked, then we can head down to the studio. I have to be there by two." He walked back into the room and set her bags on the bed.
"Hey, you alright Wade?" He turned and looked up at her, flashing an all to fake smile.
"Yeah I'm fine! I'll just let you be."
"You can stay if you want! We still have TONS of catching up to do!" She honestly didn't want him to leave, or pull back from the soon to be kiss. He smiled and turned back.
"Okay, so how are your grandparents doing?"
"Grand daddy is doing good. He broke his foot and had to have surgery. I wanted to stay but he and granny both insisted that I come here. I hope they are okay." She opened up her suitcase that had pictures of her parents, grand parents and a few of her and Wade. Ill put those ones up later she thought to herself as she slipped the pictures under her clothes at the bottom of her bag. They talked more as she unpacked, getting caught up on the things they had both missed in the months they had gone with out seeing each other. "You know what, I think that's about it! Unpacking is so much more work than packing. It takes so much longer!" He laughed and laid down next to her on the queen sized bed.
"You know you love it!" He kidded
"Yeah, your right! I love looking at all those sexy clothes I own. Lets see, jeans, jeans, jeans, t-shirt, t-shirt, t-shirt, oh I see some leather in there, jeans and more jeans!" They both let out hearty laughs and then silence overtook the room. Wade looked over at Kat. She truly was beautiful in every way imaginable, it wasn't her long blonde hair, or the perfectly toned, olive skin, or her hazel eyes that were full of life, but it was the other things that went unnoticed, her laugh, or the way her eyes would twinkle when she laughed, her personality was one that was hard to come by. She always seemed to be happy even when times were hard, the only time he had ever seen Katrina let her guard down, was when it came to her parents.
"What are you looking at Roby?" She asked as she rested her head against his torso.
"Just you." he stated simply.
"Is there something on me?" she looked up into his light eyes.
"No nothing is on you. I was just admiring how beautiful you are." She giggled and sat up.
"Well thanks I guess. Your not to bad yourself blondie!" Just as he was about to say something, his mother called from downstairs.
"Wade telephone!" He leaned over and picked up the receiver.
"Hello?"
"Wade? Where the hell are you man? You were supposed to be here like a half hour ago! And you think were bad with timing!" He sighed when he saw it was 2:30.
"Shoot, alright Joey, I'll be there in like ten minutes." He shut the phone off and got off the bed. "I'm late, I'm not supposed to be late! Ah shit!"
"Hey calm down. Late for what" Kat asked confused. He grabbed her hand and headed downstairs.
"All the guys are at the studio and I was supposed to be there a half hour ago."
"Oh I'm sorry. If I hadn't kept you up by talking and unpacking you wouldn't be late." He looked at her as he got into the car.
"Don't worry. Its not your fault. Besides, they wont care, they should be lucky I'm late. It will hold off on me ringing their asses for the little stunt they pulled last week!"
"What did they do?" he started the car up and sped off to the studio.
"When I fell asleep on day on the couch, they decided to have a little fun and dye my hair a fruitful and bright purple!" Her eyes widened and she began laughing. "It wasnt funny! Do you know how long it took for me to get that out! And on top of that, I had to walk around with a hat on for a week straight. Luckily, I got it all out but that was after like 100 shampoos!"
"Wade, that is funny, I can just see you walking around with purple hair! I hope they took some pictures!"
She was still laughing when they walked into the studio, unconsciously holding hands.
"Wade, your late! Tisk, tisk man!" JC Chasez yelled as they walked in.
"Hmm I wonder who this lovely lady is here!? The name is Joey Fatone and can I just say that God must have done something right when he made you!" Joey kissed Kat's hand in greeting.
"Guys I would like to introduce you to my friend Katrina Christman. Katrina, this is Lance, Chris, JC, Justin and the perv who kissed your hand is Joey." They each took turns exchanging hellos. "Now that you all have met, we have some business to take care of and the first thing on the list, getting you all back for the little stunt you pulled last week! Chop chop! Time for you all to work! You all are gonna go through hell today care of Wade Robson!" While Wade continued talking, Kat went and sat down next to a girl on the couch. She looked awfully familiar, but Kat couldn't quite put a name to the face.
"Hi! I'm Britney! You must be Katrina!" now she remembered, how could she have been so dumb!
"Hi Britney, it's a pleasure to meet you, and yes I am Katrina but people call me Kat for short!"
"Okay Kat! Let me just tell you that Wade has not stopped talking about you! He said you were flying in today from New York, how was the flight?" Kat smiled at her kindness, all the tabloids and papers made her seem really bitchy and ditzy but thats not how she was at all.
"How is every flight going to be? It was boring but as soon as I heard the captain say please buckle your seatbelts well be landing in a few moments' my spirits were uplifted! So what are you doing here? By the way can I just say that I love your music!" Britney laughed and looked over at Justin.
"Aww thank you, your so sweet! I'm here with stinky over there! A.K.A. Justin." her eyes lit up just when saying his name, Kat could tell that she really cared for him, even if it was her first time meeting Britney or Justin. "So how long are you going to be in LA for?"
"Well, I'm actually gong to be going to college here in September." music blared through the room as the guys and Wade began their dance routine.
"That's great, I take it your going to UCLA?" Kat nodded her head as her attention was drawn to Wade. He put so much passion into his work. "So whats your major?" she was drawn from her thoughts by Britney's question.
"I'm majoring in Pre-Law, I want to follow my family and be a lawyer." They continued talking until the guys decided to take a break. They all crowded around the couch, most sprawled on the cool floor. "So Katrina, how long have your and Wade known each other?" Lance asked.
"Since we were babies. He moved from Australia, but we kept in touch, and stayed friends while he lived here."
"You know Wade, she is really cute, there's like no sexual tension between you two!?" Chris asked as they stood on the other side of the room.
"We're just friends Chris." The hint of disappointment didn't go unnoticed.
"Ever been more?" Wade looked up at him and then over to where Kat sat, talking with the others having a good time.
"Yeah." He didn't feel like answering anymore of Chris' questions so he got up and joined the others. Chris just shrugged as Wade walked over and lazily sat on Kat.
"Wade you big sweaty lug, get off of me!" She said as she tried to push his body off her.
"You know, since you love me so much and I'm your best friend, you should let me stay here. It's the softest spot here and thats just what my butt needs!"
"Your butt is gonna need more than a soft spot if you don't get off me!" He laughed and before getting off her, kissed her forehead. The group erupted in laugher as she slapped his butt when he walked past her and got a bottle of water.
"You still like her don't you?" Chris asked as he came up behind Wade.
"What's with all these questions today man? It's really none of your business Chris." He wasn't always the nosey type but whenever he asked lots of questions, it meant Chris was up to something.
